Course Description:

LaTeX is a widely used document preparation system, especially taken-for-granted in science and engineering papers. The workshop will introduce basic typesetting skills in LaTeX. The following topics will be covered:

1.What is LaTeX
2.How to get LaTeX in PC and use it online
3.Basic Components of a simple LaTeX document
4.Typesetting text and document
5.Typesetting math notations and equations
6.Inserting images and tables
7.Essentials of reference management in LaTeX

Learning Outcomes:

After this session, you are expected to be able to:

1. Know how to install LaTeX on your laptop
2. Develop understandings of structured writing
3. Gain experience of typesetting academic papers
