This workshop will introduce the essentials of data science, emphasizing practical applications and hands-on exercises. We will cover the use of Python libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization. Participants will learn how to import, clean, manipulate, and visualize data sets effectively.

Workshop Outline:

1. Introduction to Data Science and Python
2. Overview of NumPy: Array Operations, Indexing, and Functions
3. Introduction to Pandas: DataFrames, Reading Data, Basic Data Manipulation
4. Data Visualization with Matplotlib: Plotting Basics, Customization, Types of Plots

Guest Speaker:

Dr. Xiangyun Lu, Assistant Professor, International Business School Suzhou, XJTLU

Dr. Lu has served as Library Liaison Officer for years to bridge between School and Library. As Director of IBSS Digital Accounting Lab, she is specialised in Python and her research interests lie in the field of applying new AI algorithm/method to Accounting and Finance research.
